Neurodiversity, Disability & Mental Health

Neurodiversity, Disability & Mental Health

Here we set out our practical suggestions to set you up for exam and workplace success during those first few weeks as a trainee. Don’t forget, you’ve secured the role and you’re capable of anything you set your mind to.

Reasonable Adjustments

We recommend that you tell your employer if you have a disability or mental health condition. Here we provide helpful templates and information to set you up for success when speaking to your employer.

Worrying

Are you in a cycle of worrying about different things? Feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start? Try our Worry Trick. It aims to allocate a set time to worrying, remove worries and allow you to focus on your priorities.

Help! You’ve failed an exam.

Many trainees fail at least one accountancy exam. This might be the first time you’ve failed an exam in your life and it’s okay to be sad, disappointed and frankly have a good cry. Here are our tips for moving on and strategising a resit.

New to the Corporate World

New to corporate life

If you are new to the corporate workplace, or new to the world of work, we have some suggestions to help you to slide into your career with a bit more ease. We also have advice from a current ACCA student who reflects on their career so far.

Career changers

If you’ve had a break from studying, you might find it challenging to get back into it, especially alongside working full-time. We believe you should study smarter, not for harder. Remember, everyone’s learning style is different so find out what works for you. Here are our top tips for getting started.

Gender & Sexuality

Coming out in the workplace

You should not feel pressure to come out at work but if you’d like to, we have some helpful advice and information to support you with this decision.

Challenges for women in the workplace

WARNING: references to sexual harassment and sexual assault. These challenges do not solely relate to women but our research demonstrates that often they do (91% of sexual assault victims are women). If your gut says something doesn’t feel right, speak up if you can.
