Apprenticeship Completion Statistics

At Accountancy Hub we were shocked to learn that only 54.3% of apprentices, across all industries, stayed on their programme until their End Point Assessment in 2022/23. That means 45.7% dropped out!

It got us thinking, employers are spending lots of money on attracting, recruiting, inducting and training those apprentices, only to lose nearly half of them. As a country are failing young people, particularly school leavers who have chosen not to go to university.

We are also not improving the inclusivity or diversity of various industries if diverse trainees leave. Research demonstrates that diversity is vital for long-term resilience, innovation and risk mitigation.

We KNOW that accountancy firms are doing lots of excellent work to attract and recruit diverse cohorts of school-leaver and degree apprentices. In fact, this often forms a key part of their EDI Strategies.

But can we say the work is done, when so many apprentices leave before they’ve completed their apprenticeships?

Hello Accountancy Hub!

This is why we are so passionate about offering bespoke and independent support to apprentices, via their firms. We offer a directory of coaches, mentors, and private tutors, lifestyle and wellbeing discounts, inclusion advice, articles, webinars and more!
