What I wish I’d known before I began professional accountancy exams...
Keeping a positive mindset is so important. If you feel like you’re going to fail an exam, you’re much more likely to. The whole apprenticeship journey is a learning curve so keep learning, adapting and trying. Try not to compare yourself to others and keep moving forward.
Absolutely no-one thinks these exams are easy. If someone says they are, they’re most likely boasting/feeling insecure. Failing accountancy exams is part of the process. This isn’t school or university, it’s a whole different ball-game.
Accountancy exams are difficult, but the full-time working and maintaining some sort of personal life make the experience more challenging. BUT there is support out there if you a) reach out for it and b) admit you’re struggling.
Exam anxiety is real.
Top Tip = Box Breathing
In for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4
Repeat 10 times.
Practice.
Repeat on exam day.
Better days and years are ahead, don’t you worry. Take it one step at a time and keep moving ahead with those exams.
