The Day Before My Accountancy Exam: What Should I Be Doing?
It’s the day before your professional accountancy exam/s, you’re nervous and you’ve worked hard over the last few weeks and months.
What should you be doing in the final 24 hours?
Read through essential notes and formula sheets
This is a good time to memorise important formulae, key concepts and proformas. Read through notes for areas or topics you find particularly difficult.
2. Do some light question practice
Complete a few questions, to time, and in the exam software. Spend time marking your answers and reading the examiners’ reports.
3. Plan your exam logistics
Pack your exam bag: ID, permitted texts and notes, calculator, stationary, any essential medications, water. Plan your journey to the exam centre and check if there is any travel disruption tomorrow. Get to the exam centre early so you aren’t in a rush on the day - this could exacerbate your nerves.
4. Take time to relax
Try to do some exercise (great for relaxation and focus), have an early night and take regular breaks throughout the day. We recommend avoiding caffeine so that you can sleep more easily, plus a hydrated brain is a happy brain - drink water!
5. Stay positive!
You’ve come a long way since you started studying for this exam/s. Reflect on how much you’ve learnt. These exams are an opportunity for you to demonstrate your knowledge.
You can do this!
